FRANCHISE DIRECTORY

SBA has advised that it has extended, from July 31 to December 31, 2025, the deadline for Franchise Brands that were listed on the SBA Franchise Directory as of May 2023, to complete the required re-certification process described in SBA Information Notice 5000-866746 (effective April 21, 2025) [link]. Franchisors/Distributors now will have until December 31 to execute the New SBA Franchisor/Distributor Certification. According to the announcement, “during this period, if the Franchisor Certification box on the Franchise Directory does not contain a Y, the SBA Lender must continue to use the Addendum indicated on the Directory as well as comply with any notes included with the brand listing [and] both the Franchisor/Distributor and the Franchisee must execute the addendum (if required) prior to loan disbursement”.  Effective December 31, 2025, any brand that has not executed the new Certification will be removed from the Directory and will no longer be eligible for SBA loans.

WILLIAM BRIGGS SWORN IN

In a Press Release dated July 23, 2025, SBA announced that, following his Senate confirmation on July 9, on July 23, William (Bill) Briggs was sworn in as the Deputy Administrator of SBA.  As previously reported by NAGGL, members will remember Briggs from his previous service as Deputy Associate Administrator for Capital Access.  Briggs commented that it was  “an honor to be back at the SBA and to continue [his] work serving America’s small businesses.”  He added:  “Under the leadership of President Trump and Administrator Loeffler, our job creators are poised for a historic era of growth, innovation and prosperity. I’m excited to deliver that comeback to Main Streets across America – by empowering them with the capital, counseling, and contracting opportunities to thrive.”  

NAGGL is very pleased to welcome Briggs back to SBA and has invited him to attend our Annual Conference in Colorado Springs (October 26-28, 2025).  

Guidehouse, Inc., Relocation

SBA also has announced that effective August 18, 2025, SBA’s Fiscal Transfer Agent (FTA), Guidehouse, Inc., will be changing its physical location to:  75 Rockefeller Plaza, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10019.  This address must be used for all mail and deliveries scheduled for on or after August 18.  Telephone and email addresses for the FTA will remain unchanged:  (877) 470-0722; [email protected] (1502 reporting questions), or [email protected] (general & secondary market questions).
