On Wednesday, April 2, the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee advanced the nomination of William (Bill) Briggs to serve as deputy administrator of SBA. NAGGL members will remember that Briggs served as deputy and associate administrator for the Office of Capital Access during the first Trump administration. Most recently he held various positions with the Independent Bankers Association of Texas. Briggs was nominated for the position by President Trump on January 22 and had his confirmation hearing on March 12.
The Committee also advanced the nomination of Casey Mulligan, to serve as chief counsel for advocacy. Mulligan also served in the first Trump administration.
While the Senate press release did not specify an expected date for confirmation of the nominees, a media report indicated that, per a credible but anonymous source, the vote should be held later this month.
