The House Committee on Small Business will hold another hearing beginning at 10 AM ET today, Wednesday, May 17. The full committee hearing entitled, Taking on More Risk: Examining the SBA’s Changes to the 7(a) Lending Program Part II, will focus on the increased risk and repercussions to the 7(a) program given SBA’s recent rule changes. This follows are on heels of last week’s hearing featuring sole-witness Patrick Kelley, SBA’s former-Associate Administrator for SBA’s Office of Capital Access.

Part II will feature four witnesses including NAGGL’s President and CEO, Tony Wilkinson. In Wilkinson’s written testimony he emphasized that “our concerns remain consistent with those that we stated in our public comment letters when the rule-changes were originally proposed – that the changes will threaten programmatic integrity and potentially harm the most vulnerable small business borrowers.”

The other panelists include:

  • Ami Kassar, President & CEO, Multifunding LLC
  • Alice Frazier, President & CEO, Bank of Charles Town
  • Manual Flores, President & CEO, SomerCor
