UPDATE … Both the Senate and the House passed the third Continuing Resolution (CR) for FY2024 yesterday, sending the bill to the President’s desk for signature before today’s deadline. The latest two-tier CR punts the government funding deadlines to March 1 and March 8, with SBA funding included in the latter.

January 18 …

While we still don’t expect to have an FY 2024 budget until at least March, current indications are that the Congress will kick the budget can down the road by passing a third Continuing Resolution (CR), possibly even as soon as today.

You will remember that the government is currently operating under a two-tier CR that will expire for some Federal functions on Friday, January 19, and for others, including SBA, two weeks later, on Friday, February 2. If the expected CR extension is passed by the Congress and signed by the President, those dates will be pushed to March 1 and March 8, with SBA again included in the CR with the later expiration date.

While it is impossible to predict what will happen, current indications are that this latest CR extension likely will pass. We’re hopeful that this will happen, and will let you know when/if the Congress sends the CR to the President.
