SBA regulations have always required lenders to determine that there is "sufficient invested equity" for every SBA loan. SOP 50 10 5(J) and Policy Notice 5000‐17057 redefined what constitutes an equity injection and established new equity injection mandates for loans made for certain purposes.  Determining what "counts" as an equity injection, as well as proving the sources AND uses of the equity injection is critical to having a valid SBA guaranty.  Experts Lynn Ozer (Fulton Bank) and David Starfield (Starfield & Smith) help you get a better understanding of equity injection changes and explore how policy requirements translate into practical application for lenders.
