Since 1984, NAGGL has enjoyed success in government relations on various levels. From a threatened dismantling of the SBA to its most prosperous days, we have endeavored to take the appropriate actions to keep the agency vital. NAGGL stands ready to take on whatever role the circumstance demands.

Congressional Advocate

The House and Senate Small Business Committees play a key role in forming legislation crucial to you, the SBA participant. NAGGL melds the distinctive voices of its members into a cohesive whole, and then passes the information along to the committees, helping them make decisions to benefit 7(a) borrowers and lenders and keep the program strong.

Testimonial Representative

When your bottom line can depend on a Congressional vote, you need experienced lobbyists going to bat for you and your concerns. NAGGL always has a place at the table at Congressional hearings, and is committed to voicing its members’ needs and concerns in that forum.

Subsidy Rate Champion

Since its beginnings, NAGGL has fought tirelessly to secure an appropriate subsidy rate, which translates into higher guarantee authority for the SBA, more available capital for small business borrowers, and greater lending power for the 7(a) program participant. In 2003, this included the implementation of a more realistic econometric subsidy model, which allowed program fee cuts, and our current fight to keep the Administration from pushing the program to a zero subsidy rate in attempt to stop funding it.

Grassroots Coordinator

Points of crisis demand swift and prudent action. When such times occur in the SBA lending industry, NAGGL shows its mettle in the quick institution of effective grassroots campaigns. By encouraging program participants and SBA loan recipients to meet and correspond with their elected officials, NAGGL orchestrates a unified voice, communicating to Washington the continued necessity of the 7(a) loan program.
