Biography - Mary Brennan Thorpe
Mary Brennan Thorpe brings a broad range of relevant experience in
the worlds of entrepreneurship, finance, technology, and public policy
to her role as vice president of agency relations for Wachovia Bank's
Small Business Capital group, a position created specifically for
her and which she has filled for the past seven years.
An accomplished public speaker and writer, Mary, whose function is to
support SBA lending activities, lobby for the bank, analyze regulatory
matters, and form liaisons between the bank and a broad variety of
special interest groups and trade associations, came to the bank after
serving as deputy chief of staff for the Small Business Committee of the
US House of Representatives. She had also served as deputy administrator
for business development at the US Small Business Administration, and as
a Regional Administrator for that agency during the Bush
'41' Administration.
